On behalf of the Organizing Committee for the 5th Indigenous Resource Opportunities Conference, we would like to provide an important message regarding COVID-19.
In light of the rapidly evolving situation regarding COVID-19, including a recent directive from the BC Provincial Health authorities prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the 5th Indigenous Resource Opportunities Conference until a later date.
The event initially scheduled for April 8-9, 2020 had been rescheduled to take place June 16-17, 2020 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, Nanaimo, BC. We are continuously monitoring and evaluating COVID-19 updates and are stringently following recommendations, guidelines, and policies outlined by BC Provincial Health authorities. At this time, the Indigenous Resource Opportunities Conference will be postponed until further notice.
This was not an easy decision to make, as we are aware of the considerable time, preparation, and anticipation that delegates, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors have dedicated to the conference. We acknowledge that all participants have made time in their schedules as well as travel and accommodation plans for this event, and we remain committed to creating a similarly high-quality experience for the conference in the future.
We understand that there are many questions regarding this date change, and we have done our best to address these in a brief FAQ on our website, available here. Our team is working hard on making all the required adjustments, and we will provide updates as they become available.
If you have any further questions in the meantime, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join us at the 2020 Indigenous Resource Opportunities Conference to learn about and discuss the many social and economic opportunities that exist for BC’s Indigenous communities and resource-based businesses.
When Indigenous communities are healthy and prosperous, we all benefit. There are many positive stories and proven partnerships between Indigenous communities and the resource development sector that can be shared. Attendees will hear these stories and explore best practices in economic development between Indigenous Peoples, governments, and the resource sector.
